Albert Einstein (1879 -1955)

Born in Ulm, Germany, the young Albert was given a compass to play with and claimed that it was a fascination with the invisible forces that made the needle swing round which awakened his curiosity in world. Einstein obtained his doctorate from the university in Zurich in 1905, a year that saw him produce numerous ideas, concerning the production and transformation of Light that secured him the Nobel prize in physics and does the inertia of a body depend upon its Energy-Content, which contained the famous E = MC ^2 equation. Einstein’s work on the General Theory of Relativity placed him securely on the world stage, garnening his many honours, but also anti- semitic abuse. In January 1933, during Einstein’s tour of the United States, Adof Hitler seized power in Germany. Einstein would never return to the country of his birth. He established himself at Princeton University, becoming a US citizen 194. In spite of his agreed to be signatory to manifesto that urged all nations to renounce nuclear weapons.
